About Open Scoring MMA

An independent, daily MMA and UFC news show. Short, forward-first, and sourced.

What this is

Open Scoring MMA is a daily news podcast and companion blog covering MMA and the UFC. Each episode runs about five to ten minutes and leads with what is happening now and next: fighter status and injuries, callouts and beefs, card changes, and a look ahead at the next two cards. Every episode ships with a written post that links every source.

How it is made (AI disclosure)

Open Scoring MMA is produced with the help of AI. We gather stories from established MMA news outlets, draft the script and the written roundup with a language model, and a human reviews each one before it publishes. We are upfront about this because trust matters more than pretending otherwise.

The hosts are synthetic voices. You will hear two of them: Duke, who carries the news and the eye test, and Nora, who carries the numbers and reads our model's call. They are not real people and they are not impersonations of anyone. They are named because they argue with each other, they take positions on fights, and we hold them to those positions on air after the result comes in — win or lose.

Accuracy and corrections

Accuracy is the whole point. We aim for one hundred percent. We only report what is carried by real published reporting, every claim links back to its source, and we leave out anything we cannot stand behind. We are not perfect. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we will fix it fast and note the correction.

Quotes are verbatim. When we say a fighter said something, those are their actual published words, checked against the reporting they came from. We do not paraphrase inside quotation marks and we do not put words in anyone's mouth.

We only call fights we have a read on. Our model rates its own confidence on every bout. When that confidence is a coin flip, we do not make a pick and we say so — and those non-calls do not go into our record. Every fight we do call is graded in public against the result, wins and losses alike, on our picks page.
