UFC Sets Alessandro Costa vs. Amir Albazi for Nov. 21 in Qatar

AgFight reports the promotion has booked a flyweight clash between Brazil's Alessandro Costa and Iraq's Amir Albazi for UFC Qatar on November 21.

The UFC has a fresh flyweight matchup on the books for its trip to the Middle East. According to AgFight, Alessandro Costa and Amir Albazi are set to meet at UFC Qatar on November 21.

Costa comes into this one riding momentum. He most recently beat Cody Durden by rear naked choke submission in the second round, tapping him out at the 2:19 mark. That win keeps him rolling in a division where he's building a real case for himself, and our Elo model has him rated at 1502 across eight bouts, a number that reflects a fighter trending upward.

Albazi is the far bigger name on paper, sitting at number nine in the UFC's flyweight rankings. Our own Elo puts him at 1494 through four bouts, which is close enough to Costa's 1502 that this shapes up as a genuinely competitive matchup rather than a showcase for either guy.

That's really what makes this booking interesting. Ag. Fight framed it as a fight that could shake up the 125 pound picture, and the numbers back that read.

For Costa, this is the kind of test that defines a flyweight run, a ranked opponent on a card overseas with real stakes attached. For Albazi, it's a chance to keep climbing the ladder against a hungry finisher who just put Durden away in impressive fashion. UFC Doha is shaping up to be a notable stop for the division once the rest of the card fills in around this pairing.
